Love at first tail, Wolf Complex, World tamer are some that are similar to this in style and characters. Story-wise, not so much, but they are great.

Don't delete your saves, and they'll be fine.
On mobile you can install the update onto your existing game.
On PC your saves are backed up elsewhere.
